This weekend I spent a number of hours in a bus station that was showing on it’s only TV: CNN. Amongst other things, Rick Perry was a topic of conversation. He was getting on camera to say that he shouldn’t have been indicted and the fact that he was indicted is, he says, a real abuse of power.
Since I was watching in a bus station, lots of people, announcements, ambient noise, I never actually caught what he did that fired people up about his wielding unfair power. But he did no such thing, he swears.
Ok, he didn’t actually. But I’ve been watching The West Wing lately, so even though he said it clearly, confidently, and without petulance, I’m still not sure he didn’t do something wrong. Every politician in that show is looking out for themselves, trying to figure out what they can get for themselves.
